Alden was born July 20, 1932 in Fordville, ND to Albert K. Jallo and Olga Wiste Jallo. His paternal grandparents are Knut and Randi Huus Jallo. His maternal grandparents are Peder and Olina Wiste. Aldie had 11 siblings: 2 half sisters; Ruella and Gladys, one half brother; Clarence, 2 sisters; Lyla and Edith, 6 brothers; Orvin, Arnold, Harold, Gene, Albert, and Marvin.
Alden married LaVonne Strem on October 10, 1954 at Evanger Lutheran Church, Fertile. They had 3 children: Bruce Jallo (Maria)-Fertile MN, Gaye Jallo-Crookston MN, and Joan Ruen (David)-Lanesboro, MN.
Alden attended country school is rural Fordville, ND for 8 years. The school was 1 ½ miles from the farm. After Alden finished school he worked for Martin Moe, then for his brother Orvin that winter, then for John I. Johnson, and back home to work. Alden then moved to Fertile, MN to farm in 1952. Soon he was off to the Cities to work at the Moline plant that manufactured ammunition. Later, Alden entered the Air Force. He went to Lackland AFB in San Antonio, TX: Shepard AFB in Wichita Falls, TX and then to James Connolly AFB in Waco, TX. Alden served in the Air Force from 1953-1957.
Alden worked at the Ford garage in Fertile and for Chrysler in Ada. He came back to Fertile, worked for Fertile Grain, Inc. for 5 years, the Creamery for one year, and farmed. He then began working at Fertile Grain again for 17 years. While Alden made the transition from the elevator to dairy farming, he worked a short time for Fertile Coast to Coast Hardware. In 1976 Alden built a new dairy system, milking cows for 26 years with Bruce, and retired the cows November 30, 2002. Alden also had a part-time job as an insurance agent for Garfield Farmers Mutual Fire Insurance Company in Fertile.
Over the years Alden was active in the American Legion, Liberty Township board, and Garfield Insurance board, a past member at Varnes Lutheran Church, and a current member of Concordia Lutheran Church.
Alden enjoyed sharing stories with friends and neighbors and his fishing trips he earned through selling insurance.
Alden enjoys visiting with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
